Tammy Golden grew up in a small town in Upstate New York in the Lake Champlain Region. Tammy found her love of sewing at the age of 8 when her Mother taught her how to sew. After sewing her first 4-H project, a Hobbie Hobbit doll apron and included a matching pot holder, she knew she would never leave home without her sewing machine. Her love of sewing grew from a hobby into opening a small tailor shop performing custom tailoring and alterations of bridal apparel. She also designed Halloween costumes and fabricated custom canvas tarps.

After leaving upstate New York and moving to Maryland she found herself working on her husband, Cory’s, boat repairing the canvas plus interior and exterior seat and upholstery repairs. After fixing her husband’s boat she came to love boat repair and found that this is her passion but was unsure of how to proceed. After researching ways to learn Canvas fabrication, she decided to attend Hood Marine Canvas Training provided by Mark and Debbie Hood of Merrimac, Massachusetts. She attended her first Bimini class and she was hooked. She then proceeded to attend the rest of Hood’s classes. After working on several friends’ boats and her husband’s boat Tammy opened Aureus Custom Canvas, LLC and began work in the basement of her home in January of 2014.

In May of 2015 Tammy expanded her business to a Commercial space located at 8461 Fort Smallwood Road, Suite D, Pasadena, MD 21122 with more room to work. Tammy owes a large part of her success to her loving and supportive husband and their son, Mason. She also attributes her skilled training to Mark and Debbie Hood for teaching her the craft of custom Marine canvas fabrication. Mark and Debbie have an outstanding and very successful training program, and are always there with any support needed when Tammy calls them. Mark and Debbie’s success is in part due to their very kind hearted and generous nature.
